The Irish Embassy in Indonesia
IISMA has provided Indonesian students with an excellent opportunity to get to know Ireland, its people and its culture. It has created strong links and relationships between Irish and Indonesian people and educational institutions. Ireland’s educational institutions give Indonesian students an excellent education in an English-speaking European environment, while living in Ireland will give Indonesian students the opportunity to study in a multicultural environment and connect with students from all around the world.
The Embassy of Ireland strongly supports IISMA and will maintain and strengthen its links with Indonesian students after they return home.

IISMA is very beneficial not only for the awardees, but Indonesia in general. Imagine having so many "ambassadors" representing the face of Indonesia to not just educate people about Indonesia but to also increase people to people contact in this global era. Therefore, those who become IISMA Awardee should adhere to our Indonesian values and to represent Indonesia wherever they go.

Ambassador Owen Jenkins
The British Ambassador for Indonesia and Timor Leste
I am delighted that Kemendikbud initiated this student exchange programme as a part of its Kampus Merdeka initiative; with the aim of increasing students’ knowledge, soft skills and cross cultural understanding. Student networks between Indonesia and the UK are already active, this will develop them further. The UK has 18 of the world’s top 100 Universities, including 4 of the top 10. The UK has 72 of the world’s 200 most international universities - more than any other country. Teaching excellence and this unrivaled international environment have made the UK one of the top study destinations for Indonesian students. I am grateful that Indonesian students entrust the UK with their personal, academic, and professional development. Each Indonesian student not only has a great time in the UK, but has the power to help build the bridge between Indonesia and the UK on their return to Indonesia. Few things are more important to a society than the education of our young. The pandemic has made this challenge even more critical. I Hope IISMA can continue to provide opportunities for Indonesia students to study in the UK, and to advance our education cooperation.
