Nesianetwork.id - Universitas Diponegoro, has established a collaborative partnership with Sukorejo Village in Sragen as part of the IDBU 2024 program. This initiative aims to foster sustainable development and community empowerment through various activities. One of the key components of this program is the KKN-Tematik Zero Waste Farming System, which focuses on promoting environmentally friendly farming practices and raising awareness about waste management. On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, an important milestone was reached with the final presentation, where participants showcased the results of their program in developing a comprehensive site plan for the melon edu-tourism area in Sukorejo. This presentation served as a platform for students and community members to discuss the significance and potential impact of the project on the local economy and environment.
The site plan has been meticulously designed to cover an expansive area of 7 hectares, strategically located adjacent to the Sawur River, which enhances the natural beauty and appeal of the site. The decision to select this particular location was guided by the insights and recommendations of Mr. Sukrisno, the village head of Sukorejo, ensuring that the development aligns with the community's vision and needs. Ahmad Syahandra Yudhistira, one of the student involved in the design of this area, emphasized the importance of location selection in fostering a successful tourism experience. He explained, "The design of this area has been adapted to the contours and soil types of the planning site. Each building within the area is oriented towards the Sawur River and terraced to ensure that visitors can enjoy scenic views from various angles." This thoughtful approach to design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the site but also encourages sustainable practices by integrating the natural environment into the development.

In addition to the site plan's aesthetic considerations, several tourist attractions have been proposed to make the area a vibrant destination for visitors. Among these attractions are the melon edu-tourism experience, where visitors can learn about melon cultivation and the importance of sustainable farming practices, as well as a tubing area along the Sawur River that offers recreational activities for adventure enthusiasts. Furthermore, a restaurant is planned to be established within the site, which will serve traditional dishes from Sukorejo Village. This culinary offering aims to showcase local flavors while simultaneously empowering the community by involving local farmers and producers in the supply chain. “By integrating these attractions, the project not only seeks to boost tourism but also aims to create economic opportunities for the residents of Sukorejo, ultimately contributing to the village's development” said Mr. Sukrisno.
The collaborative efforts of Diponegoro University and the residents of Sukorejo Village represent a significant step towards fostering sustainable tourism practices that benefit both the local community and the environment. Through initiatives like the KKN-Tematik Zero Waste Farming System, students are not only gaining valuable practical experience but also making meaningful contributions to the communities they serve. As the project progresses, it is anticipated that the melon edu-tourism area will become a model for similar initiatives in other regions, showcasing the potential of education and community collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals. This endeavor reflects a commitment to preserving the environment while enhancing the livelihoods of local residents, ensuring that Sukorejo Village thrives in a way that respects its cultural and natural heritage.
